Puerto Rican Fashion Designer Rebeca Tiago joins Nolcha Fashion Week: New York

New York, NY – January 27th, 2011- Rebeca Tiago, San Juan born designer proudly debuts her Fall/ Winter 2012 Collection at Nolcha Fashion Week: New York this February. Held simultaneously with Mercedes-Benz Fashion week, Nolcha is one of New York’s leading platforms for independent fashion designers.
Tiago's Fall/Winter 2012 collection is entitled "Destiny," and speaks to the various instincts of a true artist. Tiago, uses that intangible inner-voice often known as a "hunch”, to guide the direction and ultimately the "destiny" of her collection. The color palette will be dominated by shades of gray, blue, white and pink, while also incorporating lace into the pieces. Together, the colors and texture will create drama and romanticism that cues directly into Tiago's unique aesthetic, with a casual flare.
The contrast among the prints and silhouettes allow women to portray their curvy waistlines and natural sensuality, as part of the storyline which has been showcased in previous Tiago runways. Tiago merges her fabrics and styles in a new and creative way. The woman wearing Tiago is self-assured, modern, sexy, adventurous, professional and wise. The Tiago woman effortlessly draws attention where she goes, mesmerizing her onlookers by her witty and fashionably loud statement.
"Making a name for myself internationally is a big life achievement, one of the many that are about to come. This new collection I am presenting in New York is inspired by my grandmother Adela, who I admired since I was little and watched her make her designs", said Rebeca Tiago.
Rebeca was born in San Juan 31 years ago but went to school in the small town of Corozal for preparatory. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications at the University of the Sacred Heart (San Juan). Post Graduate Studies were held in Miami Art and Design University. After that degree, she moved to New York and studied in the International Institute of Image Communications. Tiago started her career as an Image Consultant and Personal Shopper while she developed herself in the fashion industry as a designer. In December 2008, she opened her first store in Hato Rey, San Juan.
Rebeca Tiago’s show will be held on February 9th 3:30pm at The Ailey Studios 405 55th Street @ 9th Avenue.
